Ole Redbeard Barleywine
A strong malty barley wine we make once a year then lay it down to age. These kegs were aged in Woodford Reserve bourbon barrels. The resulting alcohol warmth balances the malty, slightly whisky flavors quite nicely.
Redbeard is a barley wine. It is called this because it is a barley-based beer as strong as a typical wine. Large amounts of malt and hops balance each other after at least one year of aging, usually 2 years. This is a sipping ale meant to warm the belly and contemplate the deeper issues we all face.
