On Sunday, August 3rd we were finally able to debut to the public our first collaboration beer with Bent Paddle Brewing Co. at In Cahoots! in Minneapolis. This collaborative event brought four different teams of breweries together at the Red Stag Supper Club Block Party to compete for best brew. Though we took 3rd place in the competition portion, we were happy to have a chance to make a beer that we truly view as a brewer’s beer and get to take part in such a fun event!
The Red Smoke Rye is the first beer in the Common Waters Collaborative Series. This beer hints of the proverbial campfire it was created around with smoked malt accenting the caramel maltiness of this Double Smoked Red Ale. The rye in the beer complements the Saaz hops and the 6.8% ABV gives the brew a warm finish. This beer is also a tribute to our selected charity, the Gunflint Trail Volunteer Fire Department for their efforts to fight forest fires in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. A portion of all proceeds from the Red Smoke Rye will go to helping them.
Red Smoke Rye will be available for a limited time on draft at Fitger’s Brewhouse and our tide-houses along with the Bend Paddle taproom and select Twin Cities and Duluth taphouses.
