Abiding by the traditions of Trappist monks this Belgian abbey style beer is brewed with addition of prune juice. Strong yeast character highlights the estery dried plum, raisin, and wine like flavors while also presenting some spicy, warm, phenolic notes. Bready and rich in complex malt character it finishes somewhat dry. This particular batch has been aged in red wine barrels for 9 months adding a certain tartness to the flavor.
