On August 2nd our 18th annual Brewhouse Triathlon took place just outside of Duluth. Nominated in 2013 as the Best Triathlon in the Midwest, the Brewhouse Tri is the eighth race in the Midwest Multisport Series and is one of Minnesota’s oldest and most popular triathlons. Located at the newly developed Island Lake Park, the pristine swim is followed by a beautiful bike on newly paved roads, and the flat and fast run combines asphalt and gravel roads with plenty of aid stations. This year’s short course winner, Mike Ward, came in with a time of 1:02:24 and the long course winner, Brian Bich, had a time of 1:59:21. Out of 395 registered racers, 341 finished the triathlon.
Partnered with Tycoons Alehouse, each registered triathlete received a collectors edition sampler beverage glass, good for four free samples of Fitger’s Brewhouse beer served at Tycoons alongside the Brewhouse Tri afterparty with music from The Hobo Nephews of Uncle Frank. Thanks to all of the volunteers, athletes, and spectators who helped make this year’s triathlon a success!
